OpenAI just released o3 and o4-mini, its smartest reasoning models yet that are now equipped with full agentic access to all ChatGPT tools and the ability to "think with images” — alongside the launch of a new open-source coding agent.
The details:
OpenAI o3 is the new top-tier reasoner, pushing SOTA performance across coding, math, science, and multimodal benchmarks.
o4-mini offers fast, cost-efficient reasoning, significantly outperforming previous mini models and even saturating benchmarks like AIME 2025 math.
Both models can use and combine all tools within ChatGPT (web search, Python, image generation, etc.) as part of their problem-solving process.

OpenAI is in talks to acquire Windsurf (an AI coding startup formerly known as Codeium) for around $3B. This would be OpenAI’s biggest acquisition yet and a clear signal that it's doubling down on tools for developers and enterprise users. Windsurf, rebranded from Codeium, was previously valued at $1.25B after raising $150M in 2023 and was exploring a round at a $3B valuation.
The FTC had wanted $30 billion to drop its antitrust case against Meta, but Mark Zuckerberg decided to offer $450 million instead. Zuckerberg was confident that President Trump would back him up with the FTC as he had been developing closer ties to Trump.
