Cloud Giants Collaborate on New Kubernetes Resource Management Tool

Google Cloud, AWS, and Microsoft Azure have jointly announced a new open-source project called Kube Resource Orchestrator (kro, pronounced "crow"). The project is an attempt to standardise how Kubernetes resources are grouped together and deployed, and it aims to make it easier for platform teams to deploy workloads.

Smallpond is a new framework that makes processing huge datasets much simpler and faster. It’s a lightweight data processing framework built on DuckDB and 3FS. Amazon is reportedly developing an advanced reasoning AI model under its Nova brand—set for a June release—in what would be its most ambitious push yet to compete with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google. Similar to OpenAI’s o-3mini and DeepSeek’s R1—which allows it to “think through” problems and queries, making it more reliable in areas like math, coding, and science.

Apple launches a new M3-powered iPad Air

Apple has launched a new iPad Air with a spec bump over last year's device. The M3-powered device supports Apple Intelligence and is twice as fast as the M1-powered Air. It comes in four colors with 11- and 13-inch models starting at $599. A Magic Keyboard attachment is available at $269 for the smaller model.
